Structure of the day
There will be two sessions taking place on the day. Alumni will be required to commit to attending both sessions and must be available from 2:00pm until approximately 7:00pm.
Registration and Alumni Briefing: 2:00pm
Session 1: 2:50pm – 4:10pm
Session 2: 4:30pm – 5:50pm
Networking function: 6:00pm – 7:00pm
Step 1: Registration and alumni briefing
You will receive a nametag with your interview circle colour and seating number. For example, if you are allocated to red circle seat four, you will be seated at seat number four and the students will move around the eight alumni interviewers. There will be seven coloured interview circles.
The briefing session will cover how your speed interview experience will be coordinated.
Step 2: You will be ushered to your interview circle and commence the speed interviewing process.
Step 3: You will be required to ask students a common interview question and they will answer as if they are in a real interview situation. You will then provide feedback on the strengths and weaknesses of each student’s answer and will offer advice on how to better answer questions like this in future.
Step 4: A bell will sound every ten minutes and students will be required to move on to the next interviewer.
Step 5: After you have interviewed eight students, afternoon tea will be served for alumni participating in the program.
Step 6: Session 2 interviews. Session 2 will follow the same format as Session 1.
Step 7: A networking function will be held at the completion of the day (at approximately 6:00pm). All participating alumni and students will be invited to come along, have some refreshments and meet fellow alumni and students in a relaxed environment. The fourteen winners will be announced at this function. We will also ask each group of eight alumni to come on stage to present the prizes and talk about their impressions of the day, perhaps offering some hints on the most important aspects to remember in an interview situation.
